Salman Rushdie at a 5 x 15 event at Tabernacle, West London discussing the challenges he faced making the movie of his book Midnight's Children due out in November for which he wrote the screenplay.
He recounted how he tried and failed to persuade some of Bollywood biggest stars and ego's to appear in the movie in the hope that this would encourage Indian investors. But their vanity was pricked by the insalubrious roles he asked them to take on. Taken 29th May 2012
