Jose Craveirinha. Born 1922 in Maputo Mozambique. Considered Mozambique's greatest poet. Made strong literary contribution to Mozambique's fight against Colonialism. Worked as a journalist; joined FRELIMO and was imprisioned by PIDE regime for 4 years.In 1974, freed from prison and appointed vice-director of the national press.Awarded the Premio Camoes 1991. Considered several times for Nobel Prize for Literature.
