Shirin Ebadi, essayist, former President of the Court of Tehran, first Iranian woman to become member of the Supreme Court, removed from positions in 1979 with advent of Islamic revolution. After downgrading to Chancellor asked for early retirement and holds the license of lawyer. In this capacity she defended many opponents of the Iranian regime. First Muslim woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003.
