  • Derek Winterbotom was a pupil at Rossall School, Fleetwood, Lancashire for thirteen years and left in 1962 to read history at Oxford. He was head of history at Berkhamsted School and Clifton College for a total of 21 years. He has also been a schoolmaster Fellow at Cambridge and President of the Bristol Historical Asociation. He is the author of many publications in the field of history, biography, local history and education. He currently lives and writes on the Isle of Man.
